Here are some pictures taken of the old New Brunswick Sanford St. Station

RRRR New Brunswick Station  Yard from 1986

What's Left
Joe,

In 1986 when I moved back to New Jersey, the RRRR Freight Station was still standing on Sanford Street in New Brunswick. Luckily, I took pictures of all 4 sides. I was going to go inside to look around when my Mom mentioned that this was now an area drug dealers and users hung around, and I could walk in and surprise someone and get shot. So I thought that outside shots were good enough. I looked in a window that wasn't boarded up. It was dirty and deserted, so we left.

From what Dad tells me, there was a Railway Express Agent here and RRRR freight. According to "Rails Up The Raritan", passenger service ended on April 16, 1938 with one passenger and officials leaving South Amboy. This book also shows the location of the tracks and structures. According to it, the building I have pictures of with the "Freight" sign, was at one time the passenger station.
