I'm assuming you speak of the stretch of track that crosses over lower Main Street in South Amboy, up over the 'Hole-In-The Wall', and then under Route 9. The Raritan River Rail Road did not own this yard (though it crossed OVER it just a few hundred feet from Route 9). It was a Pennsylvania RR yard which mostly stored the coal cars headed for the dumpers at South Amboy's waterfront. With the closing of the coal docks in the 1970's, the yard languished. If I correctly recall some reading I did a few years ago, there were as many as 14 tracks in this yard. Just this past year they cleared out some remaining track, leaving just one track (which is still in use as the 'Amboy Secondary'). Don Zrebiec
